Information on grants & scholarships

You may be eligible for scholarships and grants from federal and state sources, from private organizations / charities, and also directly from your university.

Two federal programs provide grant assistance based on need:

Federal Pell Grants are need-based awards giving out from $400 to $4,000 for each academic year.

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is determined on exceptional need and fund availability. The maximum amount given is usually $4,000 each year.

SEOG and Pell grants, Cal grants and other forms of state education funding, are considered direct funding sources for your financial aid needs. These types of grants and scholarships will not reduce your self-help aid awards, and will also not reduce your expected parents' contribution.

Institutional scholarships are given out to any student who have qualified to receive the commonly available grants and scholarships but still fail to meet the actual financial requirements of their academic fees.
